Art- William Morris
After looking at the work of William Morris, we designed our own nature inspired prints. We carved out our designs onto lino then printed them out and displayed them in the classroom. They look fantastic displayed in the classroom.
Playground Assembly
Highworth Mayor, Councillor Keith Smith, has been to visit Westrop to tell the children about new plans for two new playgrounds in Highworth. He shared diagrams and photos of what the new playgrounds would look like and explained that he needed the children’s help in what they would like in the new playgrounds. We are hoping we won’t need to wait too long for the new playgrounds to be ready and open for everyone to enjoy.
Author Visit
Former pupil Stuart Lloyd Gould has been into school to tell us about his book Nuts. Stuart shared photos of his time at Westrop and talked about his love of writing from an early age. The children enjoyed listening to the story and spotting the animals that were their class name sakes. Many children were able to visit Stuart after school and get their copies of his book signed. We now look forward to Nuts 2 being published!
Science
Barn Owls have been learning about different materials and their properties in science. This week we were investigating mixing different liquids and solids to create a gas. We had great fun trying to see who could create the most gas to inflate the glove.
Athlete Visit
Rob Mitchell has been to visit Westrop and inspired us with his tales of high jump championships. He then put us through a circuit of work outs before ending with a question-and-answer session. We were all amazed at how high he could jump and how he was encouraged by his family and teachers from an early age.
