Playground Assembly
Highworth Mayor, Councillor Keith Smith, has been to visit Westrop to tell the children about new plans for two new playgrounds in Highworth. He shared diagrams and photos of what the new playgrounds would look like and explained that he needed the children’s help in what they would like in the new playgrounds. We are hoping we won’t need to wait too long for the new playgrounds to be ready and open for everyone to enjoy.
Author Visit
Former pupil Stuart Lloyd Gould has been into school to tell us about his book Nuts. Stuart shared photos of his time at Westrop and talked about his love of writing from an early age. The children enjoyed listening to the story and spotting the animals that were their class name sakes. Many children were able to visit Stuart after school and get their copies of his book signed. We now look forward to Nuts 2 being published!
Hedgehog class term 1
Hedgehogs have had such an exciting and busy settling-in term!
In Science, we have discovered the main three types of rocks and learned how to group them according to our own criteria, conducted an experiment to see which type of rock was the most permeable and even made cast and mould fossils!
In P.E we improved our ball skills, throwing, catching and bouncing, we then developed them even further during our outside P.E slot by playing and learning more about ball control in football.
In Art we explored the beautiful and colourful work of Hundertwasser, we went outside and made observational drawings of the school. We then learned how to mix our own colours from just the primary colours and filled in a colour wheel. And finally, we applied all of our new knowledge and skills by producing a painting in the style of Hundertwasser we think you will agree that Hedgehog’s did a fantastic job!
