At Westrop, we strongly believe in play. Our playtimes have improved greatly since the implementation of the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) scheme. The children have lots of fun with their friends and enjoy being outdoors more than before. We have started OPAL to ensure that all children are more active in their school day.
"Play is freely chosen, personally directed, intrinsically motivated behaviour that actively engages the child. Play can be fun or serious. Through play, children explore social, material and imaginary worlds and their relationship with them…By playing, children learn and develop as individuals, and as members of the community"
