Cardiff Castle Trip June 2024
We had a fabulous day out at Cardiff Castle seeing so many things we had been learning about in class. We were excited to cross the Prince of Wales Bridge into Wales, spotting Welsh signs and red dragons along the way. When we got off the coach we walked past the Castle Animal Wall under the portcullis and through the gate house. We climbed the steps to the old stone Keep where we spotted many of the castle defences and looked at the views across the city. We then had a guided tour around Lord Bute’s home and finished the day by meeting Sir Mark. He was very impressed by our questions and answers about castles and the people who lived in them and even let us dress up as a soldier, archer and knight.

We are authors and illustrators!
We loved innovating the story of The Princess and the Pea then publishing it into a real book. We hope you enjoyed our stories.

Great Fire of London
Look at our fabulous Great Fire of London art from Term 4 that is now displayed in the library. We used our colour mixing skills to create a fiery background then used the mono printing technique to create a row of burnt building over the top.
Forest School
Have a look at what we have been up to in Forest School.

Fire and Police visit.
What an exciting week we’ve had!
It started when we had a visit from the police who talked to us about their job and even hand cuffed Mrs Davies! Then on Wednesday morning we met some real Fire Fighters. We learnt about firefighting today compared to firefighting in The Great Fire of London 1666, comparing their equipment now and then.

DT – Making a car for Paddington
In DT we have had great fun researching, designing, and making a vehicle for Paddington Bear. We had lots of fun testing them and think Paddington enjoyed his trip around London!

Stuart Lloyd Gould goes nuts at Westrop School!
We were very lucky to have a local author Stuart Lloyd Gould (a former Westrop pupil) visit us to share his fabulous book ‘NUTS’. We loved finding out about all the animal characters including a Squirrel, Otter, Owl, Badger and Fox. Stuart read us the story and then answered some of our questions about what it is like to be an author. We are still enjoying Stuart’s story book as it’s one of our recommended reads in the school library.
