Trip to Cardiff Castle 14th June 2022
We had a great time at Cardiff Castle and experienced many things we have been learning about of the last term! Some of the highlights were….riding on the top deck of the double decker coach, going over the Prince of Wales Bridge into Wales, discovering the stocks, exploring the Keep and spotting all the castle defences, having a tour of the Victorian living quarters and enjoying a workshop run by a knight.

Making Bread rolls.
We had a great time learning how to make bread this week. We measured the ingredients to make a dough, then kneaded our own bread rolls and put them in the oven. We enjoyed eating them the next day and wrote our very own instructions in English. They were very yummy!

Firefighter visit Wednesday 16th March
We were all very excited to meet the Stratton Firefighters today. All their equipment was very different to what was used in the Great Fire of London in 1666. We discovered more about the special clothing they wear, fired water from the hoses, sat in the fire engine and looked closely at all the tools and life saving equipment.

DT project - designing a vehicle for Paddington Bear to travel around London.
We have had great fun researching, designing, making and evaluating our vehicles for Paddington Bear. We learnt about chassis design, wheels, axles and the body and thought carefully about how we could make our vehicles move smoothly. We think Paddington enjoyed his trip around London!

London story books
We are so proud to have written and illustrated our own story books. We enjoyed sharing them with each other in class then took them home to share too. Our stories were inspired by our guided reading book Katie in London written by James Mayhew.

Firework Poetry workshop Tuesday 2nd November
A big thank you to Kate Williams, a published poet, who came to our school on Tuesday to help us create our own firework poems. We looked at firework pictures, discussed lots of good firework words and phrases and then wrote some of our own ideas. Kate brought along her ukulele for us to sing our ideas and we shared what we had written at the end of the session.
