Trip to Cardiff Castle 14th June 2022

We had a great time at Cardiff Castle and experienced many things we have been learning about of the last term! Some of the highlights were….riding on the top deck of the double decker coach, going over the Prince of Wales Bridge into Wales, discovering the stocks, exploring the Keep and spotting all the castle defences, having a tour of the Victorian living quarters and enjoying a workshop run by a knight.

Firefighter Visit 16th March

What a fantastic morning! We were so lucky to have a Fire Engine come to visit us this morning with a team of enthusiastic Firemen! We got to sit in the Fire Truck, investigate the equipment, ask lots of questions and most importantly, we got to squirt the fire hose! We didn’t even let the rain dampen our spirits and threw ourselves into the morning, warming ourselves up afterwards with a hot chocolate!

World Book Day

We had so much fun in Squirrel class on World Book Day! We started our day with an assembly with Mrs Acres where we got to show off our costumes to the whole of KS1. When we came back to class we went on a book scavenger hunt in the library before having our daily snack and story in their too. After break we joined a live lesson hosted by the BBC where we got to listen to some interesting Authors and find out how to come up with our own story ideas. To finish the day we completed a carousal of activities that included creating a Hungry Caterpillar bookmark, making our own Supertato, designing new underpants for Aliens Love Underpants and weaving a basket for The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch!

Highworth Walk

Squirrel class went on a walk around Highworth to link with our topic of ‘All About Me’.

We looked at a map before we left so we could learn our route and see what sights we needed to look out for. We thought carefully about how we could stay safe and were proud of how sensible we were whilst we were out and about.

We used our map skills that we had learnt about in Geography to help guide us around the town and had great fun matching up the pictures on our map to the sights in real life.
