Role-play

Role-play is at the heart of our classroom where children are free to embrace and re-tell stories, act out different situations and develop a variety of skills including their language, personal, social and emotional skills as well as their creativity. Role-play involves pupils being actively engaged and learning skills beyond the subject matter explored during the activity.

We really enjoy our role-play, we have lots of real objects, clothes, props and items to explore. Our home like role-play remains throughout the year and each term it is enhanced based on the children’s interests and ideas.

Reception – Hatching Butterflies

EYFS – Reception Children

Start: Children will be fluent in exploring the natural world around them. Constantly making observations and noticing the processes and changes in the natural world.

End: Children will experience hatching a caterpillars egg, seeing how it develops and observing first hand the life cycle of a butterfly. Describing the different changes and understanding how to care for this animal. Showing patience, care and kindness to all living things within their environments with growing knowledge and understandings.
