We all had great fun at the Year 6 prom! A big thank you to the band Overload, it is fab that you still come back and play at our prom after leaving us 6 years ago. Today Osprey class created fruit salad together. Firstly, we chopped up all the fruit, being careful with the knives. Secondly we mixed orange juice with water and poured it over the fruit in bowls. After that, we all got our own cups and spooned it with different fruit. We had: strawberries; grapes; melon; pineapple; mango; cherries; apples; pears. We went outside into the shade
This term in maths Octopus have been exploring Position and direction. We have use ICT to help us do this! First we explored position and direction with the Bee Bots. And then we wrote algorithms to guide a snail around a screen (so he could eat his lunch!) on a piece of software. We have had so much fun!
Over the past two weeks the children in Leopard class have been researching mechanisms that use electrical circuits to power motors with gears. This has formed part of our Design Technology unit entitles ‘Fairgrounds’. The objective of our studies has been to design and build a fairground ride. Last week in Maths we had fun comparing weights of objects. We started by discussing which items were heavier or lighter. We then went onto weighing using cubes, we were working out what half as heavy would weigh. When we got really clever we went onto weighing with grams and kilograms and converting the weights.
This week in Maths we have started by finding different ways to sort things. We discussed the criteria and came up with our own ideas.
Over the year we have loved learning about pitch, tone and rhythm in music. We learnt songs to go with the music. We have also enjoyed exploring different musical instruments and learning when to play the correct notes.
In the last 2 weeks we have studied the text ‘Flotsam’. This is different style book as it has no words only pictures, this meant that we were able to use our imagination. In term 6 in computing we have learnt how to use the internet safely. We designed leaflets for other children in the school to guide them. We discussed the importance of keeping our passwords safe. Once we had learnt the rules of staying safe we were then able to use the computers for a research project. We looked at the solar system and researched
What does every good explorer need? That’s right, a boat! Panther class has been designing and making boats fit for an explorer. The boat needed to carry lots of animals. Luckily for the animals not all the boats sank straight away!
