Eco Council – Switch Off Fortnight

Over the past two weeks eco council have taken part in switch off fortnight. We took part in an energy survey ,looked at school meter readings and produced posters to go on our eco. We thought about how as a school we use energy and how we can reduce this.


ECO Council – What’s Under Your Feet

This week eco council took part in a survey for what’s under your feet week. We had to measure a 30cm patch in the woodland area and dig down 5cm to see what earthworms and invertebrates we could find . We found the digging quite tricky but did manage to find earthworms, snails and larvae.

Eco council have been busy collecting things to make a bug house in our new woodland area . We enjoyed building it and have already found snails ,woodlice and spiders hiding in there.

ECO Council – Waste Week

During term 4 Westrop pupils took part in Waste week. The theme for this year was E – waste. Eco members started off the week introducing the topic to each class with a class assembly. Westrop pupils then participated in activities to learn about the growing problem of E- waste. We made concept maps to show what electrical items we have at home and

ECO Council – RSPB Big Schools Bird Watch

This week the Eco Council have taken part in the RSPB Big Schools Bird Watch .Even though it was very cold we still found lots of different birds in our school grounds. We have sent our results to the RSPB.
