About the Scheme of Work

The Speekee scheme of work has been specially designed to provide a comprehensive Spanish language learning resource that is:

    • Flexible and adaptable: the lesson plans and activities can be adapted to the needs of different learners, depending on age, ability and previous experience of learning Spanish or another modern foreign language.
    • Easy to use: the materials have been set out in a way that will ensure teachers can select and access the appropriate lesson plans and activities – including the resources needed to carry these out – in a user-friendly way that will save time.
    • Based on the most recent DCSF guidelines (including the MFL Framework) and provides detailed lesson plans and activities to cover the QCA recommended teaching programme.
    • Ideal for non-specialist – including teachers who have little or no experience of speaking Spanish or teaching MFLs.

Because this is a web-based resource, it is regularly reviewed and updated to ensure that it continues to be in line with changing guidance from DCSF and QCA.
We welcome feedback from teachers and if you have any ideas or suggestions for improving the service and resources, then please contact us at We value your ideas.

At Westrop we teach a variety of langauges at Key Stage 1 with children: answering the register, saying please and thank you and learning simple phrase. In Key Stage 2 we teach Spanish each week as our modern foreign language.
The cultural and traditional aspects of the countries link into our International curriculum.
