We have been lucky to have secured funding from the British Council to be able to participate in an Erasmus+ project. This two year project will be about how we can develop well-being to enhance pupils experiences in school. Each school will send a few teachers to the other schools at different times over the course of the project so we can learn from each other. The children will get the opportunity to work on collaborative projects with the children from the other schools. The schools involved alongside Westrop are located in Finland, Spain, Italy and Wales.
At the beginning of November, Mrs Christopherson, Miss Corsan and Miss Jessopp travelled to Wales to begin the project at Evenlode Primary School in Penarth. They were joined by the visiting teachers from Finland, Italy and Spain. All the visiting teachers had the chance to visit classes to learn about how well-being is being taught and to see how it is benefiting the children. The Westrop teachers shared a power point about Westrop Primary School with three different classes and were asked lots of different questions about what school is like in England. As well as the three days spent in school, the participating teachers were given a private tour of the Welsh National Assembly and Cardiff Castle. The next visit is planned for March 2020 and will be located in Finland. This will then be followed by a visit to Italy in October, all the countries coming to Westrop in February 2021 and a final visit to Wales in May 2021.
Please see the power point that was shared with the children about the visit to Penarth.
During the last week of the Christmas term, all the classes were very pleased to receive post from their partner classes in Finland, Spain, Italy and Wales. Every school sent post to each other which included Christmas cards and letters about what their school is like.
